1125@Carleton

Designing a Better Future Together

1125@Carleton is an experimental, collaborative space for problem solving. Many labs focus on one set of problems  – for example, a sole focus on incubating new technology or on solving social challenges – but 1125@Carleton is open to

exploring any new idea that will contribute to building sustainable communities. This could involve the development of new products or services, or addressing social irritants or complex “wicked” problems.

At 1125@Carleton we:

  • Use innovative processes to create innovative solutions.
  • Enable teamwork between researchers at Carleton and 1125 external partners.
  • Bring academics, researchers and students to the table with business, the public and not for profit sector.
  • Examine how physical, technological, social, economic, cultural and environmental factors impact the health of our communities.

Our Purpose

Designing a Better Future Together

1125@Carleton is helping connect our campus, including our researchers and students, with communities, local and global, to collaboratively develop viable and scalable solutions.

It provides a space – both virtual and physical – that brings private and public users together, giving them the capacity to rethink and reframe problems, and co-create, prototype and implement solutions.

1125@Carleton, with its employees, members, affiliates and users, form a unique community of people who both

derive benefit and contribute to the success of the organization.

1125@Carleton’s strengths are its people, its networks, its approach and its experience. We are constantly in learning mode, collaborative and willing to take the initiative to share our expertise and learn from others.

It is our view that by bringing together a range of skills and experiences, we can contribute to building resilient, sustainable, and prosperous communities.
