IAS Faculty Win SSHRC Grant: The Institute of African Studies is pleased to announce that two of its faculty members are lead researchers on a recently announced SSHRC Insight Grant. The grant is for a 5 year project titled “Women’s Livelihoods in Artisanal Mining Sectors: Rethinking State-Building in Conflict-Affected Africa”. Blair Rutherford (African Studies/Sociology and Anthropology) and Doris Buss (African Studies/Law and Legal Studies) are part of the research team along with Eileen Alma (Coady Institute, St. Francis Xavier University), Joanne Lebert (Partnership Africa Canada) and Aisha Ibrahim (Institute for Gender Research and Documentation, Fourah Bay College, University of Sierra Leone).
