Back in September, I was approached to participate in a video that was being created for the Art History department. The video was intended to showcase the strengths of Carleton’s Art History Program. Having never been interviewed for such a video, I was unsure of what to expect. I found the process of discussing the strengths of the department to flow naturally; candidly, the only hindrance to my gushing was the presence of a video camera.

The video does an excellent job of highlighting the unique advantage of studying Art History here at Carleton; however, the benefits are not limited to those presented in the video. I cannot overemphasize how much I have learned as an Art History major: about art objects, about the world, about myself. Studying Art History at Carleton has provided the environment in which I was able to discover what I wish to pursue in life. Having found this niche, I feel empowered. I feel that I am able to take charge of my future, particularly because the support of Art History professors is always present behind any of my endeavours.

To any who have not seen the video: watch it! It is all true. If anything, the video had to be cut short so as not to continue on forever, since that is how long all of us would be able to praise our program.
