The Steacie Building for Chemistry is named in honour of E.W.R. Steacie, a distinguished chemist who served as chair of Carleton’s board of governors and president of the National Research Council.

Designated Parking

Closest parking to Steacie Building is located in Lot 2 near the Architecture Building.

Exterior Entrance

Two accessible exterior entrances: main front entrance off Campus Avenue and Herzberg Building walkway entrance to second level. Automatic door opener at first level only.

Tunnel Access

Accessible at ground level, with automatic door opener.

Elevators

One narrow elevator but otherwise useable. Not equipped with an access package or audible signaling device to indicate direction of travel.

Washrooms

No accessible washrooms in the building. Closest accessible washrooms are in the University Centre.

Telephones

Pay phones on first level are accessible.

Classroom Areas

Most of the classrooms are accessible. All laboratories are inaccessible unless minor modifications are made.

Study Areas

Some study spaces available in lounge areas on levels 1 to 3.

Food/Beverages

Tunnel access to cafeteria/lounge facilities in the University Centre and Loeb Building.
