Guest Lecture:  Professor Gáspár Tamás, Research Professor in the Institute of Philosophy of the
Hungarian Academy of Sciences

Gáspár Miklós Tamás is one of Hungary’s pre-eminent public intellectuals and social critics. Under the communist regime he co-founded a dissident movement, and from 1989 to 1994 was a Member of Parliament for the Free Democratic Alliance. He is currently Research Professor in the Institute of Philosophy of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. Professor Tamás is the author of ten books in Hungarian.  Some of his essays have appeared in English translation in publications such as Socialist Register, The Times Literary Supplement, The Spectator, Boston Review, and Public Affairs Quarterly.
