Scott Streiner is an Adjunct Professor with the Department of Political Science, and Executive Director of the Aerospace Review, an arms-length exercise in research, consultation, and analysis that will make recommendations to the Government of Canada on how public policies and programs can help maximize the long-term competitiveness of Canada’s aerospace and space sectors.
Scott spent 15 months in 2010-11 as a Public Servant-in-Residence at Carleton University, during which he helped build bridges between the public service and academia, taught a graduate seminar on public policy in practice, and conducted research on the responses of Westminster systems to 21st century realities such as globalization, the 24/7 media, and the internet.
Scott’s previous positions with the federal government included Assistant Deputy Minister, Policy, Dispute Resolution, and International Affairs with the Labour Program, Human Resources and Skills Development Canada; Vice President, Program Delivery with the Canadian Environmental Assessment; Director General, Human Resources Strategies and Programs with the Department of Fisheries and Oceans; Director of Operations for the Reference Group of Ministers on Aboriginal Policy and an advisor in the Machinery of Government Secretariat in the Privy Council Office; and Director of Pay Equity with the Canadian Human Rights Commission.
Scott has a Ph.D. in Political Science from Carleton University, an MA in International Relations from the Norman Paterson School of International Affairs, and a BA in East Asian Studies from the Hebrew University. He has taught and written on human rights in theory and in practice; Middle Eastern politics and history; and strategies to narrow socio-economic disparities under conditions of globalization.
