Professional Development Opportunity: Measurement and Evaluation of Low Carbon Energy Programs
Measurement and evaluation are critical tools in assessing the strengths and weaknesses of the design, delivery, and outcomes of programs and policies. With a focus on low carbon energy programs, this 4-day course will equip participants with the skills to determine whether energy-related programs should achieve their anticipated output and outcomes, and whether there are opportunities to improve effectiveness.
This professional development opportunity addresses a need for competency in this area in Canada. Accurate measurement and evaluation is necessary to demonstrate value to the public. Stakeholders at all levels need to know whether their investments in programs or policies are yielding results.
Who should attend?
The course should appeal to professionals in an energy-related field and recent graduates who want to develop their expertise in emerging energy opportunities and program evaluation.
This course should also appeal to people who belong to professional associations (Architecture, Engineering, etc). Some or all of the course modules may be designated as professional development credits.

What you will learn
Taught by Carleton research faculty and experts in the energy field, this intense course will provide practical knowledge in program evaluation through online pre-reading, and in-class instruction and practicums. Participants will learn to apply the logic model to low carbon energy programs, develop performance indicators, develop and evaluate outputs and outcomes, and learn through networking. A closing session on putting the learnings to use in the workplace will complete the course.

Note: If the minimum enrolment of 20 participants is not met by April 26, 2013, the course will be cancelled. In the event of cancellation, participants who have already registered will be notified immediately and will receive a full refund.
Six Modules Over Four Days
This course is offered in six closely integrated modules. Participants can choose to take some or all of the following modules. Participants who complete all of the modules will be awarded a Professional Certificate in Measurement and Evaluation of Low Carbon Energy Programs upon completion.

Tuition
Tuition is paid for the complete program of six modules over four days ($1200 plus HST) or on a module-by-module basis (half-day modules are $200 plus HST, full-day modules are $400 plus HST).

- A Professional Certificate in Measurement and Evaluation of Low Carbon Energy Programs for participants who complete all six modules.
