First-year Neuroscience student Mariam Omar is the winner of the CU75 History Quiz contest! Omar was one of more than 1,200 people who correctly answered a series of questions about pivotal moments in Carleton’s history after visiting CU75.ca between Oct. 12 and 23, 2016.

Omar, who is originally from Ottawa, is also doing a minor in Biology. She is thinking of using her degree to pursue a medical degree in the future.

“75 is a really nice number,” said Omar. “It sounds like 2017 is going to be a big year at Carleton.”

CU75 puts a spotlight on those who helped make Carleton what it is today

Carleton University launched the Fall 2016 iteration of CU75 on October 12,  adding to its impressive roster of students, faculty, graduates, donors and founders that have helped make the university what it is today.

These amazing community members include: Mitel Networks CFO Steve Spooner, Indigenous leader Gilbert W. Whiteduck, art historian Linda Grussani, Google engineer Ross Koningstein, music historian Elaine Keillor, statistician Ivan Fellegi, PhD candidate Bruce Wallace and athlete Stacey Siopis. Watch for banners featuring them at locations around campus.

More than 500,000 people were exposed to the campaign on Facebook and Instagram in October 2016 alone. Stay in touch with the campaign on social media using the hashtag #CU75.

There’s more to come before Carleton’s 75th anniversary celebrations officially begin in January 2017! Watch this space for more information.
