The IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society (EMBS) has announced that it’s 2016 International Student Conference (ISC), with an overarching theme of Expanding the Boundaries of Biomedical Engineering and Healthcare, will be hosted at Carleton University from May 29 – May 31, 2016.

Over the course of the conference, distinguished keynote speakers will provide insight into their specialties. The conference program will also feature workshops, oral and poster presentations, a design competition, sessions for students and young professionals, as well as exhibitions and networking breaks.

  • Meet and hear talks from renowned keynote speakers including Dr. Barbara Oakley (Author of Most Popular Online Course “Learning How to Learn”), Dr. Samir Iqbal (EMBS Distinguished Lecturer) and Dick Bourgeois-Doyle (Secretary General of National Research Council).
  • Improve your technical and soft skills by attending special workshops by Microsoft, Canadian Light Source, University of Toronto and Queen’s School of Computing.
  • Unsure whether to pursue graduate school or hit the work force? Attend special sessions Ins & Outs of Academia and Ins & Outs of Start-Ups to get advice from experts in the field.
  • Expand your professional network through dedicated networking and exhibition time with peers, industry and academic leaders.

The ISC is organized under the flagship of the EMBS, the largest Biomedical Engineering Society in the world. The unique conference serves as the largest gathering of students, academic and industry professionals in the Biomedical Engineering and Healthcare field.

Registration fees start as low as $40 for IEEE Student Members, which includes conference proceedings, access to all workshops, special sessions and keynote presentations. In addition, an exciting gala will be held at the Shaw Centre, with tickets starting at $25 for Student Members.
