The Carleton community mourns the loss of Prof. Donald (Don) A. George, who passed away on Dec. 6, 2016.

Don was a graduate of McGill University, Stanford University and MIT. He served Dean of Engineering at Carleton from 1969 to 1975 and continued his career at Carleton until 1983.

Subsequently in 1985, he was appointed Dean of Applied Science at Simon Fraser University, continuing as Director of the School of Engineering Sciences. From March 1991 to June 1994, he was one of the two founding Associate Pro-Vice-Chancellors for Academic Affairs in the then Office of the Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Academic Affairs, and Professor of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.

Don is survived by his sister Patricia Statler, and his two children Doug George and Pat Raymond.
