Wampum was how the indigenous nations of the woodlands did their political and ceremonial business. Akwesasne Mohawk author Darren Bonaparte uses his collection of more than two dozen belts and strings to document Rotinonshionni (Iroquois) history and culture. His presentation covers how wampum was used in council as well as the meaning of the symbols woven into them.
