FPA professors are adding their voices to the public discourse surrounding the 2015 Federal Election campaign with a new blog in iPolitics, a daily online magazine about Canadian politics.

The blog is called “Campaign Notes: Powered by Carleton University’s Faculty of Public Affairs”.

The blog launched this week with articles by Christopher Waddell, the Carty Chair in Business and Financial Journalism in the School of Journalism and Associate Professor of Journalism Elly Alboim–both former long-time journalists.

In his post, Christopher Waddell describes the recent profane outburst by a Conservative party member directed towards a reporter as “the logical end point of the evolution of political campaigning in Canada”.

Elly Alboim, on the other hand, discussed the changes on the Canadian political landscape in his article, noting, “The extent and speed of the Liberal decline and the corresponding NDP surge is unusual even in a period of rootless partisanship and constant electoral surprises.”

All FPA faculty members are encouraged to submit blog posts to iPolitics on issues related to the ongoing federal election. Submissions will be accepted at ipolitics-editors@googlegroups.com.
