As Lloyd compared academic programs in Law and Legal Studies, he decided Carleton offered the most well-rounded education.

“I wanted a more diverse educational background,” said Lloyd, who will attend the University of Law in the UK next year. “I was able to study philosophy and literature, which helped me to think in different ways.”

As with so many FPA students, Lloyd left family and friends behind—in the Cayman Islands—to come to Carleton for his studies. But the influence of his mother was never far away.

“She worked extremely hard as a single parent and that laid a foundation for me,” said Lloyd. “It means a lot to know she’s cheering me on. She’s my biggest supporter.”
