Calling all Carleton Faculty Members and Students! Would you like to contribute your research skills to helping local organizations solve local problems? If so, come to Carleton’s 4th Annual Community Engagement Event on February 24 to meet and collaborate with community organizations tackling an array of real-world issues in Ottawa and beyond.

This free networking event will connect you with representatives from community organizations who are seeking to partner with Carleton students and faculty. Some may have practicum or entrepreneurship opportunities to offer. Others will be coming to discuss project ideas that can benefit from the ingenuity of Carleton’s faculty and student researchers.

The morning will kick off with a key-note presentation by Marc-André Clement (Culture Shock Canada) and some of Carleton’s top students. They will share key insights on how to make partnership-based projects effective for all involved.

You’ll then have the chance to participate in a series of networking sessions hosted by community organizations and Carleton faculty on over two dozen topics from digital policy, human rights and environmental sustainability, to music and math.

The event will also feature a special session on a community-led proposal for an Ottawa networking platform that will serve as a one-stop-shop for matching community identified projects with collaborators from Ottawa’s colleges, universities, and non-profit organizations.

Carleton session hosts include faculty members from Geography and Environmental Studies, Public Affairs, Political Science, Psychology, Music, and Engineering as well as representatives from the Let’s Talk Science program, the Global Academy, and Futurefunder (Carleton’s crowd-funding tool).

Community organization hosts include: Causeway Work Centre, Hub Ottawa, Hidden Harvest Ottawa, The Happy City Initiative, Greenspace Alliance of Canada’s Capital, Entrymark, The Alliance to End Homelessness, Canada’s Digital Policy Forum, and Ottawa’s Eco-Talent Network.
