In his discussion, director Peter Hinton will share in the creation of his recent production of “Pygmalion” for the Shaw Festival 2015. Hinton will discuss the work of the actors, designers, director and text in rehearsal and performance. The Shaw Festival is North America’s second largest repertory theatre, and the question invites a larger inquiry as to why Canada’s most pre-eminent theatres are dedicated to Shakespeare and Shaw. Is it essential cultural heritage–or Colonial dependency?
