Jacob Kovalio seated at deskHistory Professor Jacob Kovalio was interviewed on the Carol Anne Meehan Show regarding the ongoing security threat that North Korea constitutes to Asia Pacific. Below is a brief summary of Prof. Kovalio’s thoughts on the situation. You can catch the full interview online (1:00-2:00 portion on March 23).

Prof. Kovalio is of the belief that it is only thanks to the Beijing regime’s ruthless “double game” (voting in favour of sanctions against North Korea in the UN Security Council and then, subverting those sanctions by supplying North Korea with all its needs) that North Korea can survive and even develop nuclear weapon capability, all with Chinese help as well as cooperation of other rogue states – African, like Zimbabwe and Nigeria, and Muslim states (Iran, Syria etc.).

He further indicates that US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, in his Beijing visit early this week, gave the Chinese a list of Chinese companies which would be sanctioned if they do not stop violating the UN sanctions against  North Korea. He concludes by saying that the democratic international community (US, Canada, Japan, South Korea, Europe) should cooperate against Chinese duplicity.
