Members of the department are happy to offer their expert opinion to the media on issues relating to their expertise. The fields listed below provide examples of the range of subject areas. 1. Canadian history, society and politics: External affairs, First Nations, social history, constitutional history, the Canadian North, regional history, urban history.

2. American history, society and politics: Foreign policy, race relations, presidential and congressional elections, the US constitution.

3. European history, society and politics: History of science and technology, economic and social history, history of women and the family, medieval Europe, the national histories of Britain, France, Germany and Russia.

4. World history: The Age of Discovery, societal institutions, colonialism, Latin America, Japan and East Asia, the modern Middle East.
