Scholarship/Awards Categories

Marie Odette Gabrielle Clay Memorial Award ($1,300)

The deadline for this award has passed for 2024

Awarded annually to an undergraduate international student, who is a) proceeding from one year to another, and b) has been involved in student life. Recipients are selected by members of the International Student Services Office.

Donor: Friends and family of Marie Odette Gabrielle Clay, B.A. 1988. Endowed 2000.

The successful recipient will be notified by the Awards Office mid-March.

International House Award ($850)

The deadline for this award has passed for 2024

Awarded to an international undergraduate student who is a) in his/her graduating year attending Carleton University on a student visa who, and b) in addition to maintaining the academic levels of the degree program, has been an active participant in extracurricular activities in the University. Recipients are selected by members of the International Student Services Office.

Donor: International House. Endowed 1972.

Richard Van Loon Scholarship ($5,000) Fall 2023/Winter 2024

The deadline for this award has passed for 2024.

Awarded annually, on the recommendation of the Richard J. Van Loon Scholarship Committee, this scholarship is intended for an outstanding international student from an African country. Eligible recipients will be full-time students proceeding from one year to another in any program at Carleton University with a valid study permit. Consideration will be given to students in financial need. Check back in the fall term for 2025 application information.

Emerging Leaders in the Americas Program (ELAP)

The Emerging Leaders in the Americas Program (ELAP) scholarship provides students from post-secondary institutions located in Latin America and the Caribbean with short-term exchange opportunities for study in Canadian post-secondary institutions.

The Emerging Leaders in Americas Program is facilitated through the student exchange agreements Carleton has established with specific Latin American and Caribbean institutions and is administered by the International Student Services Office (ISSO) on behalf of Global Affairs Canada.

The 2024-2025 ELAP program is now open. 

Eligible exchange partners whose students have been accepted to study at Carleton during the 2023/2024 academic year.
