There are more refugees and migrants crossing international borders today than any other time since the Second World War, and the average displacement lasts 20 years.
James Milner, a political science professor at Carleton and one of the architects behind the university’s Migration and Diaspora Studies Initiative, believes that this unprecedented challenge is also an unparalleled opportunity to reform the UN’s refugee system and transform the way the global community responds to this pressing and complex issue.
