My research crosses disciplinary boundaries and emphasizes networking and innovation to address a range of real world challenges:
Biotechnology: Exploring the structure-function relationships underlying enzyme specificity with the goals of developing new antibiotics and reducing the environmental impact of industrial processes through the use of enzymes.
Biomedical and Biochemistry: Investigating of the regulation, mechanism and disease-associated mutations of cystathionine β-synthase with the goal of therapeutic development.
Public Health: Collaborating on interdisciplinary projects with community partners on topics ranging from nutrition, community gardens and health to healthy aging.
Evolutionary Biology: Applying of molecular methods to address questions in evolutionary biology (in collaboration with Dr. Andrew Simons).
