To facilitate snow removal, the following parking restrictions are in effect between Nov. 15 and April 15, from 1 a.m. to 6 a.m.

  1. No overnight parking is permitted on university roadways or exterior parking lots. Residence students must purchase a permit in the North P18 Parking Garage – this is to ensure that overnight restrictions can be enforced and snow removal operations are not impeded. Resident student status will be verified with Housing and Conference Services records so please ensure that if you are staying in Residence that you purchase a garage parking permit – towing charges will not be refunded if your vehicle is not moved for snow removal operations.
  2. All other permitted vehicles must be moved to the P9 Garage, P18 Garage, or Library Garage during snow removal operations. Vehicles parked overnight in either garage must be removed by 7 a.m. the following morning.
  3. Vehicles remaining parked in any exterior lot after 1 a.m. obstructing snow clearing operations will be ticketed and/or towed away at the owner’s expense.

If special parking arrangements are required for non-permit holder overnight parking on campus, queries may be directed to the Parking Services Office during normal business hours at 613-520-3623 or email parking@carleton.ca, or to the Campus Safety Services Office, located at 203 Pigiarvik (ᐱᒋᐊᕐᕕᒃ), after hours.

During the Winter months and particularly after snowfalls, it is sometimes difficult to identify parking spaces and lanes. In the past, a phenomena called ‘triple parking’ has occurred.  This is when parkers are not aware that they are the third vehicle to park in a row, blocking the middle vehicle in.   In an effort to mitigate this problem, Parking Services are installing additional signage from November 15th-April 15th yearly at the each end of parking lanes in most campus parking lots. The signs are depicted below in P1. Please watch for them when you park.
