Michael Wernick, B.A, M.A..  As well as holding the position of Vice-Chair of the Board of Governors, Mr. Wernick was appointed the 23rd Clerk of the Privy Council and Secretary to Cabinet in January, 2016.  His career in the federal public service began in 1981 and has included positions of increasing responsibility at the Department of Finance, Consumer and Corporate Affairs, Canadian Heritage, Aboriginal and Northern Affairs and four tours of duty at the Privy Council Office.   Mr. Wernick has been a member of the federal Deputy Minister community since 2002. He has the unique distinction of having been deeply involved in the transition process and start up of three new governments, and attending the swearing in and first Cabinet meeting of three Prime Ministers (Martin in 2003, Harper in 2006, Trudeau in 2015).  In November, 2012 he was awarded the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal.  Mr. Wernick received B.A. and M.A. degrees in economics from the University of Toronto.  He has been a member of the Carleton Board since 2010. His spouse and his son are both Carleton graduates.  He has been re-elected to the Board for a three-year term, ending on June 30, 2019.
