Rena Bivens appeared before the Parliamentary Committee on the Status of Women Canada on September 21. The Standing Committee is undertaking a study on Violence Against Young Women and Girls in Canada and invited Dr. Bivens to speak as an expert witness along with Dr. Valerie Steeves (Department of Criminology, University of Ottawa).
Previously, the Committee heard testimony from Dr. Lara Karaian (Institute of Criminology and Criminal Justice, Carleton University), Dr. Jane Bailey (Faculty of Law, University of Ottawa), and Dr. Shaheen Shariff (Faculty of Education, McGill University). To date, MediaSmarts, Battered Women’s Support Services, and YMCA Halifax have also met with the Committee.
