When they produced Tammy’s Story for their broadcast seminar, MJs Roberta Bell, Gareth Madoc-Jones and Sarah Peterson hoped it would reach an audience beyond the classroom.

They’ll get their hoped-for wider audience this weekend, when their five-minute documentary is broadcast on TVO at four different times on Nov. 5 and Nov. 7.

Tammy’s Story is about Tammy Lynn Lamondin-Gagnon, an indigenous woman who went missing in 1999.

In telling Tammy’s story, the MJs spoke with her mother, Jacqueline Gagnon. Their resulting doc aimed to highlight the strength and resiliency of indigenous communities and peoples who have lost loved ones.

Bell, Madoc-Jones and Peterson originally produced the documentary in the winter term of 2016. Their work reached the semi-finals in TVO’s 2016 Short Doc Contest.
