Cost:Enrolment Fee: The registration fee for the workshop is $350.00 plus HST per person. A reduced fee is available for journalists. The registration fee includes morning and afternoon coffee breaks. Participants will be responsible for their own lunch.

In this workshop will we will explore the latest research and case study analysis to help participants develop practical strategies on the use of social media during serious security events such as an active shooter, a bomb threat, or an attack.

This intensive, hands-on workshop will help participants:

  • Anticipate common communication challenges likely to emerge during serious security events
  • Understand the positive and problematic roles social media can play in managing through a security crisis
  • Work through strategic decision-making and other real-life challenges through the use of an interactive scenario and audience feedback technology
  • Consider best practice risk communication preparedness and response options to help address the range of strategic, operational and ethical issues serious security issues invariably raise.
