What is Flex Term?

Carleton University’s Department of Psychology offers an Open Access Course (also known as a Massive Open Online Course or MOOC). The Open Access edition is open to all and has no cost; however, students wishing to receive academic credit must transfer to a Flex Term section. The Flex Term section has unique academic and financial requirements. A summary of the financial requirements is provided below:

How much does Flex Term cost?

Students taking the Flex Term section are required to be admitted as Special Students. As a result, Special Student tuition fees will be charged to all registrants in the Flex Term section. The Flex Term course will be built as a 0.5 credit/billing hour course, and assuming no other charges are applied, will cost $680.98 per course for Domestic students and $2,539.48 for International students for the 2016/2017 fall and winter terms.

Students are permitted a maximum of 2 consecutive registrations within the fee outline above and must complete the course within this time frame.

Dates and Deadlines:

Unlike traditional courses, students who decide to take the Flex Term section are required to make fee payment immediately upon registration into the Flex Term section. Until fee payment is received, Flex Term students will be unable to receive their final grade, and the University reserves the right to deregister Flex Term students if payment is not forthcoming.

In addition, no refunds will be issued for Flex Term courses.
