About our Summer Session

Carleton University welcomes members of the community to our Summer Session. Classes begin either May 1 (Early and Full Session) or July 4 (Late Session).   At Carleton, students who take courses out of interest but are not pursuing a degree are referred to as “Special Students”. Courses are available to Special Students subject to availability and prerequisites. Take a look at what we are offering this summer; registration for Special Students opens on March 27 at 8:30am via Carleton Central.

Summer Courses Offered

To browse the course offerings for the summer session by subject listing, visit the Public Class Schedule in Carleton Central page. To conduct a course search, select “Summer 2017″ from the drop-down menu. You can then perform a broad search by “Subject”, or narrow your search with some of the other featured fields. Once you have identified a course of interest, click on the course title for a description and prerequisite information.

How to Register

Before registering for summer courses, you will need to become a Special Student at Carleton University. To do this, you must complete the Online Special Student Application and pay a processing fee. The fee can be paid by Visa, Mastercard or online Debit. You will also need to provide a copy of a transcript showing the most recent education you have completed. Proof of English Language Proficiency may also be required. Your application will not be processed until all of these requirements have been submitted.  More information about becoming a Special Student can be found on the Registrar’s Office website.

Once you have been admitted as a Special Student and have been assigned a Carleton student number, registration for summer courses is completed online using Carleton Central . Detailed steps on how to register are available here.
