{"id":1978,"date":"2014-10-14T11:22:52","date_gmt":"2014-10-14T15:22:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/carleton.ca\/3ci\/?p=1978"},"modified":"2014-10-14T11:22:52","modified_gmt":"2014-10-14T15:22:52","slug":"graduate-programs-indigenous-policy-administration-carleton-university","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/3ci\/2014\/graduate-programs-indigenous-policy-administration-carleton-university\/","title":{"rendered":"Graduate Programs in Indigenous Policy and Administration at Carleton University"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The School of Public Policy and Administration at Carleton University is developing two new and unique graduate programs in Indigenous Policy and Administration: a concentration in the School\u2019s Master of Arts in Public Administration, or a Graduate Diploma.<\/p>\n<p>The Master of Arts in Public Administration at Carleton is a fifteen course program that can be completed by four terms of full-time study or through part-time study.\u00a0 The Indigenous Policy and Administration concentration requires that students take at least four and at most eight elective courses in Indigenous Policy and Administration.<\/p>\n<p>The Indigenous Policy and Administration Graduate Diploma consists of six courses delivered through the IPA Summer Institute and online.\u00a0 The graduate diploma will be offered initially on a part-time basis, with students taking 1-2 courses per semester for three terms, including the Summer Institute.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Funding<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In 2012, the Province of Ontario opened a competition for development funding to create a graduate program in the area of public administration \u201canchored in both mainstream and Indigenous governance models, practices and world-views.\u201d \u00a0Carleton University was successful in the competition for the development funding. Additional funding comes from the university.\u00a0 A fund-raising campaign is underway to supplement these sources, to fund student bursaries and program enhancements.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Timing<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Students may apply for admission now, in fall 2014, for courses beginning in May 2015.
