Arleta Majoch, Andreas Hoepner, and Tessa Hebb have a new article out (Sources of stakeholder salience in the RI movement: Why do investors sign the principles for responsible investment?<\/strong>) that is being featured in the most recent installment of RI Quarterly<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n

Signing the six Principles for Responsible Investment\u00a0(PRI) expresses commitment to becoming a responsible\u00a0investor, but beyond that it means different things to\u00a0different organisations. Some have only just made the\u00a0decision to move towards more responsible investing,\u00a0while others are already integrating environmental, social\u00a0and governance (ESG) issues into every asset class. In this\u00a0empirical paper, Majoch et al. examine the stakeholder\u00a0relationship between the PRI and investor signatories,\u00a0how it has changed over time, and how it varies between\u00a0different types of investor. The findings highlight pragmatic\u00a0legitimacy, organisational legitimacy, power attributes and\u00a0management values as the factors having the most impact\u00a0on why investors sign up to the PRI.
