Join us for a virtual round-table discussion\u00a0with 3 Carleton alumni on Careers in Community <\/strong>Innovation <\/strong>on Wednesday May 4, 1-2pm<\/strong>.<\/p>\n Scroll down to register below…<\/p>\n Omar Elsharkawy<\/strong><\/p>\n Omar is a program manager, and focal point for equitable access to healthy, sustainable food at Food Secure Canada. At FSC, he is working on a collective, and participatory process to identify, analyse and document food systems approaches and innovations.<\/p>\n Omar holds a Master\u2019s in Environmental Studies (MES) in food system planning from York University, researching systematic, health and sustainability focused food system interventions. Prior to joining FSC, Omar has worked in both public and non-profit sectors in organizations ranging from local farmers\u2019 markets to international agencies.<\/p>\n Omar is first generation immigrant to Canada. He lives in Toronto on the traditional territory of many nations including the Mississaugas of the Credit, the Anishnabeg, the Chippewa, the Haudenosaunee and the Wendat peoples.<\/p>\n Heather Hachigian<\/strong><\/p>\n Heather Hachigian is an assistant professor at Royal Roads University\u2019s School of Business. She teaches in the Masters of Global Management Program, BBA in Innovation and Sustainability and Graduate Certificate Program in Corporate Social Innovation. Her research interests include responsible investment, social finance and alternative organizations with a social purpose. Heather\u2019s recent research focuses on the governance of community wealth-building models. Her research has explored investment decision-making under ambiguity, shareholder engagement and impact measurement and management. She has published her research in several book chapters and academic journals, including Business and Society, Journal of Business Ethics, Business and Politics, Journal of Sustainable Finance and Investment, and the Stanford Social Innovation Review. Heather has a Master of Public Policy and Administration from Carleton University and a Doctor of Philosophy from the School of Geography and the Environment at the University of Oxford<\/p>\n Karim Harji<\/strong><\/p>\n Karim Harji works with investors and ventures to describe, measure, and improve their social impact. He is the Programme Director of the Oxford Impact Measurement Programme at the Said Business School, University of Oxford; and Managing Director at Evalysis, an impact measurement and management consultancy. Karim was previously a co-founder and Director at Purpose Capital, where he established and led its Impact Investment Advisory practice.<\/p>\nOur Panelists<\/h3>\n
