The ACE Lab is proud to announce that over 75 foreign diplomats (each representing a different country) visited our open house on March 26, 2009. This visit was made possible by the Ottawa Centre for Research and Innovation (OCRI), the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade (DFAIT), and the Director of Carleton University\u2019s Innovation Transfer Office, Luc Lalande. The ACE Lab\u2019s Director of Modeling and Simulation, Murray Gamble, briefed the diplomats on the scope and nature of academic expertise that comprises Carleton\u2019s Centre for Visualization and Simulation (VSIM). Research Associate, Dr. Matthew Brown, then introduced our guests to the multi-disciplinary scientific approach adopted by the ACE Lab\u2019s employees and graduate students. So as to avoid having an \u201call-talk-and-no-action\u201d open house, the diplomats were encouraged to have some fun with our various simulation platforms. As it turns out, not much encouragement was needed, as our guests were eager to demonstrate their driving and flying prowess, as well as being keenly interested in viewing multiple cities rendered by Microsoft\u2019s Virtual Earth on our large-scale visual display system.
