For Nancy, becoming a donor through Carleton provided her with the opportunity to be part of community impact by supporting causes that align with the University\u2019s strategic direction to \u2018<em>Serve Ottawa, Serve the World<\/em>\u2019. One fund that resonated deeply with Nancy is the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/futurefunder.carleton.ca\/giving-fund\/laura-thomas\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Laura Thomas Summer Research Internship<\/a>, as it was a meaningful way of continuing Laura\u2019s legacy to support fellow colleagues and students\u2014a value that is close to her own heart. Like Nancy, Laura was an ardent ambassador for Health and Safety on campus, and was committed to ensuring our community remained safe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In addition, Nancy donates to a breadth of funds including\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/futurefunder.carleton.ca\/giving-fund\/cu-wise-carleton-university-women-in-science-and-engineering\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">CU Wise<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/futurefunder.carleton.ca\/giving-fund\/carletons-engineers-without-borders-fund\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Carleton\u2019s Engineers Without Borders<\/a>, and became a monthly donor to the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/futurefunder.carleton.ca\/campaigns\/geoheritage-park-and-geological-time-trail\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Geoheritage Park and Geological Time Trail Fund<\/a>\u00a0based on her passion for supporting scientific initiatives driven by women. \u201cBeing a monthly donor is effective and ensures that I carry through with my intentions,\u201d says Nancy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<section class=\"w-screen px-6 cu-section cu-section--white ml-offset-center md:px-8 lg:px-14\">\n    <div class=\"space-y-6 cu-max-w-child-5xl  md:space-y-10 cu-prose-first-last\">\n\n        \n    <div class=\"grid gap-6 mx-auto my-6 cu-column md:gap-10 md:grid-cols-2 md:my-10 first:mt-0\">\n        \n<div class=\"cu-column-content\">\n    \n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Since joining Carleton in 2011 as staff, Nancy has forged an even deeper connection with the University as the proud mom of two alumnae. Her youngest daughter completed her undergraduate degree at Carleton and is now a second-grade teacher, and her eldest daughter completed her master\u2019s degree and later went on to pursue medical school. Nancy credits Carleton for being an integral part of their growth by paving their way to becoming contributing members of the community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When she isn\u2019t in her office, Nancy enjoys availing herself to the campus amenities by walking on the track in the Fieldhouse in the winter and enjoying the scenery along Dow\u2019s Lake during her summer runs.
