Dr. Joana Rocha<\/strong> is a Professor in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at Carleton University, in Ottawa. Before joining Carleton University, Dr. Rocha was a Visiting Researcher at NASA Langley Research Centre and the National Institute of Aerospace (NIA), in Virginia, USA. She received her Ph.D. and M.A.Sc. degrees at the University of Victoria, Victoria, BC, where her research focused on the development of models for the prediction of flow-induced noise in aircraft. Since joining Carleton University as a Professor in 2012, Dr. Rocha has established the Aero-Acoustics Research (A-AR) Laboratory, with unique capabilities. Her research program explores cutting-edge topics in aircraft noise prediction and reduction, with particular focus on the design and optimization of aircraft structures for noise mitigation. Her expertise spans aeroacoustics, turbulence-induced noise, structural acoustics, and turbulence modelling, all with practical applications in aerospace engineering. Her overarching goal is to contribute to the development of next-generation, environmentally sustainable and quieter aircraft technologies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Rocha has received several prestigious awards and distinctions, including the Elsie MacGill Education Award, a Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC) Discovery Grant, the Early Career Researcher (ECR) Award, and research grants from the Consortium for Aerospace Research and Innovation in Canada (CARIC) and the Consortium for Research and Innovation in Aerospace in Qu\u00e9bec (CRIAQ). She serves as member of the Board of Directors for the Canadian Acoustical Association (CAA), member of the Council of the Fluis-Structure-Sound Interactions and Control Society (FSSICS), and has served as Associate Chair of Graduate Programs at Carleton, as Director of the Ottawa-Carleton Institute for Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, and Associate Editor for the Canadian Acoustics and Aerospace journals.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
