Razia Sayad is an Afghan lawyer and a human rights activist.<\/p>\n
Razia holds a Master degree in Public Policy and Administration and a Bachelor in Law from the Faculty of Law and Political Science of Kabul University. Razia served as Child Rights Commissioner and Head of the Child Rights Promotion and Protection Unit (WPU) in the Afghanistan Independent Human Rights Commission (AIHRC) from 2019 until 2021. She contributed to restructuring CRU and strengthened its potential. She has extensive knowledge and experience in Human Rights and legislative drafting. She worked with different national and international institutions, including Human Rights Support Directorate of Ministry of Justice, Justice Sector Support Program, Law Directorate of Ministry of Women Affairs, Rule of Law Project of USAID and Civil Society and Human Rights Network in Afghanistan. For over a decade she has been a participatory action researcher and policy advocate on the role of civil society, especially women\u2019s collectives in advocating for improvement of the rights of women and children.<\/p>\n
Currently she is cooperating with UN-Women Afghanistan country office in the Sharia Law Specialist role.
