Festival Afro-Latino Kafé-Karamel

When: 21-23 juillet

Du 21 au 23 juillet 2016, le Festival Afro-Latino Kafé-Karamel présentera sa 4e édition sur la rue Laval piétonnière. Dès jeudi (21 juillet) 18 h, le cœur du centre-ville revivra au son de la musique tropicale de l’Afrique, de l’Amérique en passant par l’Asie et même la Syrie,dans une ambiance familiale et carnavalesque. L’animation commencera dès la matinée au marché du Vieux-Hull.

L’édition 2016 aura pour thème « Hommage ». Un concours peinture en direct par des artistes issus de la diversité culturelle viendra célébrer la mémoire de l’illustre peintre Jean Dallaire. Papa Wemba pionnier de la rumba congolaise et Prince, entre autres, auront également leur moment de reconnaissance.

L’animation familiale sera améliorée avec des spectacles de rue et de nouveaux rythmes feront leur entrée au festival.

Quelques artistes de cette 4e édition : SoundProof Music,VJ Groove Machine, DJ Papus, Thierry Kiyanya, Les Ballet Aztlán, Lottawence Latin Orchestra, Walid Gharbi et les danseuses de baladi, Pawuni, Loyal Kigabiro et la Troupe Thaïlandaise d’Ottawa, Katty Granados, les Poupées Rock the Arts, Les Productions Kalabante (Afrique en cirque),Sabor de Cuba, Rafael & Energia Dominicana.

Le Festival est organisé par le Club Social Salsa LOca en collaboration avec la Ville de Gatineau et le support de Vision Centre-Ville le gouvernement du Canada, du Collège La Cité, du Bar Aux 4 Jeudis, le Troquet, et de nombreux autres partenaires.

Uniterra contributes to improving the socio-economic conditions of poor and marginalized communities in 14 countries and with over 200 partners in Africa, Asia and the Americas through the exchange of expertise and knowledge of Canadian and international volunteers. Uniterra believes that economic growth, when inclusive, is the most powerful driver of poverty reduction. The purpose of the Uniterra program is to improve the lives of some of the world’s most vulnerable populations by stimulating growth and facilitating access to the benefits of growing and diversified markets. To make this happen, we are working with our local partners to enhance the income of poor and marginalized women and youth through better access to employment Information and income generation opportunities. Uniterra country program staff work with our local partners to design Uniterra assignments in the context of the country strategy, supporting the inclusion of women and youth in key economic subsectors.

African Governance and Space (AFRIGOS): 2 Postdoctoral Research Fellow Positions

African Governance and Space (AFRIGOS) is a five-year research project at the University of Edinburghs Centre of African Studies funded by an ERC Advanced Grant. It examines transport corridors, border towns and port cities in four regions of Africa.

AFRIGOS is now hiring two Postdoctoral Research Fellows to work for 3 years on the project from as early as November 2016. Details are available via the project website.
