Amos Mhina is a visiting scholar at Carleton University. He is an Associate Professor in the Department of Political Science and the School of Public Policy and Administration. Before coming to Carleton he was the Coordinator of the Philosophy Unit, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences at the University of Dar Es Salaam. He graduated with B.A (ed) and M.A (Pol.Sc.) from the University of Dar Es Salaam. He obtained a DEA (etudes politiques) from the University of Grenoble, France and a Doctorat from the University of Pau, France. Dr. Mhina has taught primarily at the University of Dar Es Salaam. In 1998/9 he was a Senior Fulbright Scholar at Montclair State University, New Jersey, USA. His recent research areas have been in the fields of public policy, Governance and Civil Society, Rural Development and Elections. He has been involved in a number of Research Programmes. He was the Country Chairman of a comparative non-profit sector study coordinated by The Johns Hopkins University, USA and before coming to Carleton he was the Tanzania Country coordinator for Religions and Development (RAD) comparative research Programme coordinated by the International Development Policy Department of the University of Birmingham, U.K.
