This roundtable will reflect on the dramatic events in Zimbabwe in November 2017 which saw a military (\u201cnon-coup\u201d) coup which removed the long-serving Robert Mugabe as president and replaced him with Emmerson Mnangagwa (nicknamed \u201cthe Crocodile\u201d). Topics to be discussed will include the role of the military in Zimbabwean politics and society, the prospects for economic reform and political liberalization, the fallout in the region, the impact on international relations and foreign trade, the question of change in politics on land and agriculture, and the role of civil society, opposition parties, and the diaspora.<\/p>\n
