Professor Samuel Ujewe<\/strong>, McMaster University<\/p>\n

Should the contents of global health justice be restricted to ideas, principles and\/or theories that can be presented as universals, or should the ethical ideals of particular societies around the world also count as relevant in establishing what it should mean? This presentation focuses on how indigenous African principles of justice can inform the discourse on global health for a more effective impact on indigenous healthcare in the global south and around the world. It presents three key principles that would define just healthcare for indigenous Africa. While genuine effort is being made towards establishing the grounds for international obligation for the health and wellbeing of disadvantaged populations around the world, especially indigenous people, their relevant ethical outlooks are continuously excluded in defining the terms of global health justice. Using indigenous African healthcare context as a specific example, the presentation will show the need for a context inclusive approach in the global discourses and initiative. It will specify the terms of obligation for the international community towards healthcare for indigenous African communities and other indigenous communities across the globe.<\/p>\n
