Join us on Thursday, February 25 from 11:00 – 11:45 a.m. MST for the next Diversity in Diplomacy webinar.<\/p>\n

The fourth installment of the Diversity in Diplomacy series features Her Excellency Fatima Braoul\u00e9 M\u00e9\u00eft\u00e9, the Ambassador of Mali in Canada and the Permanent Representative of Mali to the International Civil Aviation organization (ICAO). In a discussion moderated by Dr. Paulin Mulatris, Professor and Vice Dean of Campus Saint-Jean at UAlberta, Ambassador M\u00e9\u00eft\u00e9 will speak to issues of diplomacy through the lens of her identity as an African woman.<\/p>\n

The discussion will take place in English, with a Q&A in both French and English to follow. La discussion se d\u00e9roulera en anglais, suivie par une session de questions-r\u00e9ponses en fran\u00e7ais et en anglais.<\/p>\n

This Diversity in Diplomacy episode is part of Black History Month, celebrated and observed annually in Canada in February. The webinar aligns with the BGSA\u2019s conference on The Black Student Experience in Academia on February 25, beginning at 3:30 p.m. (https:\/\/bgsa2021conference.artsrn.ualberta.ca\/). Ambassador M\u00e9\u00eft\u00e9 will take part in this student-led event as well.<\/p>\n

This Diversity in Diplomacy episode is jointly organized by UAlberta\u2019s Campus Saint-Jean, Black Graduate Students\u2019 Association, Intersections of Gender Signature Area, the Peter Lougheed Leadership College, and UAlberta International. The Diversity in Diplomacy series is moderated online conversations in which diplomatic leaders, such as Canadian and foreign ambassadors, high commissioners, and consuls general, are invited to reflect on their practice of foreign policy and diplomacy with a view to equity, diversity, and inclusion in the diplomatic service.<\/p>\n

The Diversity in Diplomacy series is open to interested students, faculty, and the public. Registration is required.<\/p>\n
