Who is included in the category of \u201cchild,\u201d and who is excluded? How do legacies of colonialism, conflict, capitalism, and climate change shape the ways adults understand childhood? What are the material effects of those perceptions on the everyday lives of children? How can individuals and institutions work to honor children\u2019s rights and support their well-being? These questions will be the focus of this roundtable discussion between Carleton University Visiting Scholar <a href=\"https:\/\/researchers.uq.edu.au\/researcher\/2607\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Bryan Mukandi<\/a>\u00a0(<a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/africanstudies\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Institute of African Studies<\/a>) and IIS faculty members\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/iis\/people\/evelyn-namakula\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Evelyn Namakula Mayanja<\/a>\u00a0(Human Rights and Social Justice) and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/iis\/people\/julie-garlen\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Julie C.
