She has extensive research as well as applied experience in land reform, rural development and gender studies, spanning the<em> <\/em>academic, state and NGO sectors. Current research interests include land claims, land restitution and land reform in South Africa; women\u2019s land rights in Africa; and environmental conservation in the context of land claims and environmental and social change.\u00a0 Her most recent books are <em>Landmarked; Land Claims and Land Restitution in South Africa <\/em>(2008) and a co-edited collection, <em>Land, Memory, Reconstruction and Justice: Perspectives on Land Claims in South Africa <\/em>(2010).\u00a0 Previous books are <em>Women and Resistance in South Africa<\/em> (1982, 1991); an edited collection, <em>Women and Gender in Southern Africa to 1945<\/em> (1990), and the co-authored study of forced removals in South Africa, <em>The Surplus People<\/em> (1985, with Laurine Platzky (for the Surplus People Project).\u00a0\u00a0 Between 1995 and 2000 she served on South Africa\u2019s Commission on Restitution of Land Rights as Regional Land Claims Commissioner for the province of KwaZulu-Natal.<\/p>\n<p>*If you are attending the seminar, please register at <a href=\"mail&#116;&#111;&#58;&#65;&#102;&#114;&#105;&#x63;&#x61;&#x6e;&#x5f;&#x53;&#x74;&#x75;&#x64;&#x69;es&#64;c&#97;&#114;&#108;&#101;&#116;&#111;&#110;&#x2e;&#x63;&#x61;\">Afri&#99;&#97;&#110;&#95;&#83;&#116;&#117;&#x64;&#x69;&#x65;&#x73;&#x40;&#x63;&#x61;&#x72;&#x6c;eton&#46;&#99;&#97;<\/a> .
