Jack Mangala <\/strong>is Associate Professor of Political Science and African Studies at Grand Valley State University (Michigan) where he served, up until last year, as Director of African and African American Studies Program and Director of the Area Studies Center. He holds a PhD in International Law from the Catholic University of Louvain in Belgium. Professor Mangala\u2019s scholarly interests center on the nexus between international law and human security and on Africa\u2019s international relations with a particular emphasis on the following thematic areas of Africa-EU relations (peace and security, governance and human rights, and migration and mobility). His most recent publications include Assessing George W. Bush\u2019s Policies toward Africa: Proposals for the New U.S. President and African Leaders<\/em> (Universe Press, 2009),\u00a0 Africa and the New World Era: From Humanitarianism to a Strategic View<\/em> (Palgrave Macmillan, 2010) and New Security Threats and Crises in Africa: Regional and International Perspectives<\/em> (Palgrave Macmillan, 2010).\u00a0 He is a Visiting Research Scholar at the Institute of African Studies, Carleton, for the Fall, 2011.<\/p>\n
