Brian (Kwazi) Majola<\/strong> is a lecturer\/researcher in the School of Management, Information Technology and Governance at the University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN), South Africa. He received a Master of Commerce degree in Industrial Relations from UKZN and a MSc degree in HRM from the University of Manchester, England. For approximately 15 years, he worked both in the private and the public sectors as an Assistant Director, Educator, Policeman and a Sales Consultant. As a former South African Public Servant he participated in a number of committees such as Expediting Dispute Resolution Process; Human Rights and Policing and; Participation Management Forum as a member and chairperson at Departmental, Regional and Provincial levels.<\/p>\n

At the UKZN, Kwazi is currently serving as a member of the Teaching and Learning Committee and is responsible for teaching and supervising undergraduate and postgraduate students. He is the only specialist on Employment Relations at the College of Law and Management, Pietermaritzburg Campus, UKZN. Kwazi\u2019s research interests lie in the area of gender equality, affirmative action, political participation and people with disabilities ranging from women\u2019s participation at local\/district government level to the review of employment policies in relation to people with disabilities. He is currently writing his PhD research on a thesis titled \u2018Women\u2019s Representation and Participation in the Era of Decentralisation\u2019.<\/p>\n

Kwazi, a Ford Foundation International Fellow is currently a visiting researcher at the Institute of African Studies, Carleton University.
