It explores: popular versus \u201cexpert\u201d (indigenous versus biomedical) concepts of health, determinants of health, and appropriate healthcare; the legacy of racialized health policies and services during Apartheid; contemporary challenges in delivering adequate healthcare; and citizen-led struggles to improve access to preventive and curative medicine, HIV-AIDS treatment and women\u2019s reproductive health.
