Nokoko<\/em><\/strong> publishes high quality papers on Africa and the pan-African Diaspora, and encourages high-quality submissions from new and old scholars.<\/p>\n

Nokoko<\/em><\/strong> accepts only one submission per author per issue. Previously published work is not eligible for publication.<\/p>\n

Nokoko<\/em><\/strong> welcomes papers written in English or French.<\/p>\n

Nokoko<\/em><\/strong> encourages submissions from any academic discipline, including the social sciences, natural sciences, and humanities. If you have questions about your submission, please e-mail the journal with a brief description of the work.<\/p>\n

Review Process<\/h2>\n

Nokoko<\/em><\/strong> publishes once a year, and papers are accepted throughout the year. Submission deadlines will be published in the Call for Papers. Submissions received after the deadline will be considered for the following issue.<\/p>\n

The editorial board will determine a paper\u2019s suitability for publication. All manuscripts considered appropriate for publication in Nokoko journal are subjected to at least two blind peer reviews. To preserve anonymity, authors and referees should avoid self-identifying references. Submission of a manuscript to Nokoko implies the author\u2019s intention to publish in the Journal and that the author has not submitted the same article simultaneously to any other Journal. Nokoko cannot accept any article while it is under review by another journal.<\/p>\n

Paper Format<\/h2>\n

Articles should be submitted in as an electronic file in as a Word Document or a Rich Text Document. Adobe PDFs are not accepted.<\/p>\n

Submissions should be in 12-point Times New Roman, left aligned, double-spaced, titled, and have numbered pages. Tables of data should be sent as Excel spreadsheets. Images (graphics, pictures, figures, equations, etc.) should be sent as .jpg or .tif files.<\/p>\n

Submissions should not be more than 8,000 words, and may include references, endnotes, biographical statements, and tables.<\/p>\n

Authors are encouraged to use a clear, accessible style, free from specialized jargon in order to reach the widest possible readership.<\/p>\n

The first page should include: the author\u2019s name, the article title, an abstract of not more than 300 words, a brief biographical note.<\/p>\n

Please ensure that permission has been received if you plan to reproduce materials that are subject to copyright laws.<\/p>\n

Citation Style<\/h2>\n

Footnotes should be limited to content notes and appear in the footer of the appropriate page. All references should conform to APA parenthetical citation (see, e.g., here<\/a>) and APA referencing style (see, e.g., here<\/a>). A list of references should accompany the manuscript, showing only those works actually cited in the paper.<\/p>\n

Nokoko Book Review Guide<\/h2>\n

To further our mandate of generating and providing important conversations related to Africa, the African diaspora, and the continent\u2019s relationship with the rest of the world, Nokoko welcomes Book Reviews.<\/p>\n

These critically engages with arguments in one (or perhaps more) new publications, drawing out the substance and form within the
\npublished work and situating them in wider scholarly, policy, and\/or\u00a0\u00a0activist practices and discussions.<\/p>\n

These should be between 1,000 \u2013 1,500 words.<\/p>\n

We strongly recommend that you follow the guidelines at\u00a0http:\/\/www.write.armstrong.edu\/handouts\/BookReview.pdf<\/a>\u00a0which provides a
\ngood summary of what is expected of a good review.<\/p>\n
