It is the second language of some 135 million more, making it the most widely used language in sub-Saharan Africa. This introductory course will cover oral skills as well as basic reading and writing skills. There will also be an important emphasis on cultural practices of Swahili-speaking people. He &nbsp;has taught KiSwahili both in Zanzibar and &nbsp;Arusha, Tanzania with the U.S. Peace Corps &nbsp;and all levels of KiSwahili (Elementary to &nbsp;Advanced) at Indiana University from 2003-2012. His research interests are in &nbsp;Sociolinguistics, Second Language Phonology, Second Language Acquisition and &nbsp;African Literature.
