UPCOMING EVENT: Media Training

November 14, 2019

As part of the partnership between ALiGN (Alternative Global Network Media Lab) and LERRN (the Local Engagement Refugee Research Network) at Carleton University, Ghadah Alrasheed and Kathy Dobson, ALiGN’s Interim co-Directors, will conduct a jump-start workshop this month on media delivery and social media impact for LERRN’s research team. The workshop is aimed to provide training for LERRN’s participants on how to deliver and pitch their stories to news media, package their message points, and explore the different media channels that the participants can engage differently with. Both ALiGN and LERRN advocate sharing their research with the public and engaging with diverse audiences beyond academic boundaries. This training will be an opportunity for researchers and students working in the area of refugees and forced migration to learn how to communicate more effectively with key public actors and share their messages more widely. It is important to note that Ms. Dobson and Ms. Alrasheed both participated in the annual “Forced Migration Training” camp in August 2019 at the Kenya School of Government in Nairobi. The participation was also within ALiGN and LERRN’s partnership framework.
