A PhD position in electrofuel process modelling is open in the APEX lab at Carleton University in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. This NSERC-funded position is part of a research program that aims to integrate electrofuel production processes (hydrogen, synthetic natural gas, and synthetic fuels) in large-scale models of the energy system. The ideal candidate will have experience in one, or more, of the following areas:

  1. Process engineering and process modelling
  2. Building large-scale optimization models of the energy system
  3. Conducting big data analysis and developing large databases

Applications are welcome from all areas of engineering, especially chemical engineering, and are encouraged from under-represented groups including, but not limited to: women; First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples; persons with disabilities; visible minorities; and persons of any sexual orientation, gender identity or expression.

A background in ASPEN, Modelica, Modelon, or Python programming is considered a strong asset. The PhD start date is negotiable, ideally commencing in Fall 2021 or Winter/Spring 2022.
