The first half of the course introduces engineering methods for analyzing risk and uncertainty, starting with event trees and probabilistic risk assessment. Systems-level methods are then discussed, with a focus on quantitative uncertainty analysis, decision analysis, and optimization. The course then introduces multi-criteria approaches that decision makers use when evaluating energy systems.
