The Office of Academic Programs and Strategic Initiatives can help!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Office of Academic Programs and Strategic Initiatives is responsible for supporting faculty in understanding the timelines and process for new program development, and to assist in identifying the documents required for a successful completion of a new program proposal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In accordance with Carleton Institutional Quality Assurance Process, all new program proposals require approval of an Executive Summary, prepared by the program lead(s) in consultation with the Associate Dean(s), prior to the development of the self-study.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As part of the approval process, a peer review will take place over the course of two days that will result in recommendations to consider as part of the development process. The final version of the proposal is subject to Carleton\u2019s quality assurance process for new program approval.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Engaging in a thorough and comprehensive review of new degree program proposals ensures a high level of quality and sustainability, while also ensuring the development of new programs consistent with Carleton\u2019s missions and goals outlined in the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/sip\">Strategic Integrated Plan<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While developing a new program, units may wish to consult the Labour Market Information Report (<a href=\"https:\/\/people.math.carleton.ca\/~davecampbell\/LMI.html\">LMI Report<\/a>). This information can be used to support curriculum design and inform tuition fee structures for full cost-recovery academic programs. \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Support and advice on the development of new undergraduate programs is provided by the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/apsi\/contact\/\">Program Officer<\/a>&nbsp;responsible for your unit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Support for the development of program learning outcomes and plans for their assessment is provided by your&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/apsi\/contact\/\">Program Assessment Specialist<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Looking to develop a new academic program?
